Who Is Benjamin Edozie?
Benjamin Edozie is turning professional this year. The English featherweight who trains out of Great Britain Top Team in South London. He made his name on the UK amateur scene, fighting at events like Cage Warriors Academy South East and FightStar Championship. His style is known for strong grappling and a knack for finishing fights on the ground.
Benjamin Edozie's Path Into MMA
Like many fighters at GBTT, Edozie chose to fully commit to MMA instead of treating it as a hobby.
"I knew that if I wanted to turn pro, I'd have to go all in, so I quit my job."
Since committing to MMA full time, Edozie has been able to put all his energy into training and competition. He made this decision to give himself the best chance of reaching a professional level.
Benjamin Edozie's Fighting Style
Edozie’s main strength is submissions, especially chokes like the rear-naked, brabo, and anaconda. He also has enough striking skills to finish fights standing. His well-rounded style often leads to finishes instead of decisions, which is just what GBTT coaches want as they prepare fighters for the pros.
Life at Great Britain Top Team
Edozie is honest about what daily life is really like behind the scenes of his fight record.
"People only see the fights but they don't see the hours behind them. The drills, the conditioning, details you practice over and over again, until they become instinct. Day in. Day out."
That high standard is central to training at GBTT. Many of the coaches are current or former pros, and they expect the same from amateurs as they do from professionals. This helps fighters like Edozie move up when the time is right.
The Protection Behind the Fighter
Edozie is turning pro this year, and he’s approaching that step just like he does every training session at GBTT.
"I'm turning pro this year, but this isn't about the destination. When that moment comes. I know it will be like any other day, any other session, any other rep. Because I'll be ready."
Being ready also means trusting his gear. Edozie uses OPRO's Instant Custom-Fit mouthguard, which fits like one from the dentist but doesn’t require a dental visit. That way, he can focus only on the fight when he’s in the cage.
