Watch GB Para Taekwondo’s Beth Munro share her story with OPRO, from a netball-loving teenager to making history as Britain’s first Para Taekwondo Paralympic medallist.

Sport was always part of Beth’s life, but taekwondo wasn’t even on the horizon. A chance encounter at a disability sports event in North Wales saw her scouted by Anthony Hughes, who told her he could make her a Paralympian. First came javelin, then one weekend she was thrown into taekwondo, and discovered a talent she didn’t even know she had.

With just six months of training before the Tokyo Games, Beth faced a whirlwind journey: shedding weight, sharpening her skills, and stepping into competition for the very first time. Against the odds, she fought her way past world-ranked opponents and stood on the podium with a silver medal - the first ever won by a British para taekwondo athlete!

For Beth, protection has always been personal. “OPRO, I think, is a vital protective equipment that we need within this sport,” she says. Conscious of how precious one set of teeth really is, her OPRO mouthguard gives her the confidence to step onto the mat knowing she’s protected.

From netball courts to the Paralympic stage, Beth’s journey proves how far determination, and the right support can take you.
