We are delighted to announce the renewal of our longstanding partnership with Harlequins, which sees OPRO continue as the official mouthguard for the Club.
Harlequins is one of the oldest and most famous rugby clubs in the world. Founded in 1866 and renowned for its expansive style of rugby and quartered shirt, the Club has, throughout its vibrant history, been a proud innovator in the game both nationally and globally.
This agreement ensures Harlequins continue to enjoy the assurance of wearing our internationally renowned, custom-made mouthguards for all players. This includes continued support of Harlequins Women through the next phase of the RFU’s top tier Premier 15’s competition.!
The partnership brings with it the introduction of the next generation of smart mouthguards, OPRO+, embedded with PROTECHT’s state of the art sensor technology, which accurately identifies and reports all head impacts received by players in training or competitive matches. This ground-breaking initiative will tailor training in a progressive way to slowly move towards match demands, enabling players to safely simulate the loads and intensity of collisions.
Mike Lancaster, Head of Medical Services at Harlequins, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have extended our contract with OPRO. The safety and wellbeing of our players is of the upmost importance at Harlequins and the protection that OPRO offer is the best in the market. Added to this the ability to be involved with the PROTECHT and OPRO+ to introduce this cutting edge technology further cements our commitment to our player’s welfare.”
OPRO Sports Marketing Director, Daniel Lovat, said: “Harlequins is an iconic team and we are proud to have supported the club for the last 15 years. We are delighted to have renewed our partnership and are really looking forward to supporting the Women’s team in the Premier 15s competition. Innovation and protection are at the forefront of what we do and it’s fantastic we’ll also be able to support the club and the welfare of the players through the PROTECHT and OPRO+ program” .
