Who Is Ramazan Temirov? Meet Lone'er Kavanagh's Uzbek Opponent

UFC flyweight Ramazan Temirov

Ramazan Temirov is one of the hardest punchers in the UFC flyweight division, and he faced OPRO ambassador Lone'er Kavanagh at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi on Saturday 24 October 2026. The Uzbek fighter went into that bout on a 12-fight winning streak, with 12 of his 20 professional wins coming by knockout or TKO.

Here's who he is, how he fights and how he matched up with Lone'er.

How Temirov Made It to the UFC

Ramazan Temirov is a professional MMA fighter from Uzbekistan who competes in the UFC's flyweight division (125lbs). Born on 31 January 1997 in Qarshi, he goes by the nickname "Temurlan" and trains with the Muradov Legion Team.

He began training in karate and hand-to-hand combat as a child. Temirov turned professional in December 2015 and won his debut by TKO in Tyumen, Russia. He fought in promotions across Russia, China and Uzbekistan, then went 2-0 in Japan's RIZIN in 2023.

After that, Temirov joined the UFC. He made his debut on 12 October 2024 at UFC APEX in Las Vegas and won his first three UFC fights.

Ramazan Temirov's Record and UFC Fight History

Temirov went into UFC 333 with 20 professional wins: 12 by KO or TKO, seven by decision and one by submission. His first-round TKO defeat to Lone'er was only the fourth loss of his career, and his first in the UFC. For his current record, check his UFC athlete profile.

Date Opponent Event Result Method
24 October 2026 Lone'er Kavanagh UFC 333, Abu Dhabi Loss TKO, round 1
25 July 2026 Steve Erceg UFC Fight Night, Abu Dhabi Win KO (punch), round 1
1 March 2025 Charles Johnson UFC Fight Night, Las Vegas Win Unanimous decision
12 October 2024 CJ Vergara UFC Fight Night, Las Vegas Win TKO (punches), round 1

Temirov's knockout win over Erceg came after more than a year away from the Octagon and earned him a Performance of the Night bonus.

Fighting Style: Strengths and Weaknesses

Temirov is known for his powerful striking. Eleven of his wins have come in the first round, and in the UFC he lands 4.73 significant strikes per minute. In the Erceg fight, he dropped his opponent early with a spinning kick to the body and finished with a series of right hands, ending the fight with 39 seconds left in the first round.

Strengths

  • One-punch power, especially with the overhand right
  • Body attacks, from hooks to spinning kicks
  • He is hard to hit cleanly, avoiding 62% of his opponents' significant strikes in the UFC.
  • His takedown defence has been strong, as no opponent has taken him down in the UFC so far (0 of 2 attempts).

Where he can be beaten

  • Temirov's punches are often wide and looping, which means a sharp jab and straight punches can land before his do.
  • He has been taken down against the cage in past fights, and his only submission loss was by armbar in 2019.

Kavanagh vs Temirov: How the Fight Matched Up

The bout featured two ranked flyweight strikers. Going into fight week, Lone'er was ranked sixth in the division and Temirov tenth.

Lone'er had a four-inch reach advantage and nearly twenty years of kickboxing experience. The key for him was to keep Temirov at the end of his jab and kicks, away from the looping power shots that had won so many of Temirov's fights.

Both fighters have faced Charles Johnson. Temirov won by decision against Johnson in March 2025, while Johnson knocked out Lone'er in the second round that August. Styles make fights, though, and Lone'er has since beaten former champion Brandon Moreno.

Lone'er went in with experience of tough fights, having gone five rounds with Moreno and three hard rounds with Brandon Royval, a bout that earned Fight of the Night at UFC 329. Temirov's UFC fights, by contrast, had mostly been short, with two of his first three ending in the first round.
