Roger Uttley
"ISPEC, was set up by Physical Education Teachers in the independent sector to provide a forum for the professional development of teachers involved in this crucial subject area.
The annual conference enables individuals from all types of independent schools to get together , to discuss, review, practice and experience all the latest developments in current physical education theory and practice.
It provides a vital stimulus in helping to maintain the excellent standards achieved in physical education within the independent sector"

What is ISPEC
The conference is run by and for teachers concerned with Physical Education in Independent schools. The inaugural conference took place at Marlborough College in 1970. Teachers at girls' schools were first invited to Bryanston in 1973 and the conference visited a girls' school for the first time in 1981.
The committee has been aware of the particular requests of recent delegates and has sought to compile a programme which, as far as possible, meets all demands. There are opportunities to follow activities as a short course or try the full range. It is hoped that delegates will participate in all activities.
The aims of ISPEC are:
- to promote Physical Education in member schools
- to stimulate enquiry and research into Physical Education
- to examine and publish material of interest to members
- to establish links with Preparatory Schools.
